Liberia and the Open Society Initiative in West Africa have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening the capacity of the Ministry of Justice.
Under the MOU, OSIWA provided fifty scholarships to the Justice Ministry for law students at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law at the University of Liberia.
OSIWA-Liberia Country Coordinator said the gesture was in response to a request earlier made by the Justice Ministry.
Mr. Joe Pemagbi expressed the hope that the beneficiaries would make maximum use of the opportunity to help improve their country’s justice system.
For his part, Justice Philip Banks lauded OSIWA for the gesture and stressed that beneficiaries will have to agree to work for the ministry upon their graduation as pre-condition.
Minister Banks also said the beneficiaries would gain employment with the ministry and receive a little stipend as they go through their studies.
