The Civil Service Agency says it would shortly launch a biometric identification system for civil servants in the country.

The agency’s Deputy Director General for Administration, Othello Weh told Star Radio the system is intended to reform the civil service sector.

Mr. Weh said the biometric ID system would help to weed out ghost names from government’s payrolls and also track down employees on what he called multiple payrolls.

He indicated that it will require about four hundred thousand United States dollars to implement the system.

According to Mr. Weh, government and the international community are contributing to the implementation of the system.

Meanwhile, the Civil Service Agency has given a one-month ultimatum to civil servants on more than one payroll to decide where they want to work.

The Civil Service official Weh stressed that those concerned must be able to make the decision before the biometric identification system is launched.

Mr. Weh said the CSA would not hesitate to remove from the payroll the names of employees who failed to decide.
