The Lead Counsel of former President Charles Taylor says people are afraid to testify in the trial of the former Liberian leader.

Courtney Griffiths said because Mr. Taylor is so demonized by the world media, people in West Africa are afraid of being associated publicly with Mr. Taylor.

He however, reassure people wishing to testify on behalf of the detained former President that they have no cause to worry so long they are prepared to attend court and tell the truth.

Mr. Griffiths said the defence team is confident that it could refute allegations being put forward by the prosecution.
