A 3-man delegation from the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights is visiting Grand Gedeh County in southeast Liberia.

The delegation warned against the detention of people in prison cell who were not convicted by a court of law.

The delegation of the continental human rights body said they noticed more detainees than sentenced inmates in Liberian prisons after visiting prisons and detention centers.

The visiting delegation observed 16 sentenced inmates out of a total of 44 prisoners.

The delegation suggested for the government of Liberia to respect the minimum requirement of international standard of prison.
