Former President Moses Blah has revealed to the truth commission that his former boss, Charles Taylor ordered his execution.
Mr. Blah said he was summoned to the White Flower upon Taylor’s return from Ghana in 2003 where the then Liberian President was indicted for war crimes.
According to Mr. Blah, in the presence of the full cabinet, Mr. Taylor accused him of plotting to overthrow his government and warned of the consequences.
The NPFL Special Commando recalled he was whisked off to the residence of Mr. Joe Tuah where he was detained and surrounded by 50 Sierra Leonean fighters.
Weeping profusely, Blah explained how the fighters psychologically tortured him during his detention by squeezing him in a room.
He said while in detention, he heard the fighters saying, “we will carry the Vice President home tonight on Robertsfield Highway.”
Mr. Blah further noticed his imprisonment was a scheme by Mr. Taylor because he did not want to fulfill an earlier promise to him.
Mr. Blah said Mr. Taylor promised to give him one million U.S. dollars as a compromise to resign and allow then House Speaker Nyundueh Monokomna to become Vice President.
