The United States Government has provided eighty million US dollars to support Liberia’s development agenda.

An agreement for the assistance was signed Tuesday by President Sirleaf and U.S. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

The bilateral agreement amends four previous agreements with USAID increasing US support to the country.

As part of the agreement, USAID will also provide over twenty-three million dollars for projects in Liberia using other instruments outside of the agreements.

The arrangement brings US support to Liberia for fiscal year 2008 to one hundred three million five hundred twenty seven thousand US dollars.

United States Ambassador to Liberia, Linda Thomas-Greenfield said the support was a show of US commitment to a brighter future for all Liberians.

President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf thanked the United States Government for the support and said the US remains Liberia’s first and foremost partner.
