The Signal Commander of the RUF rebel movement says Charles Taylor never personally got on the VHF Radio to communicate with officials of the RUF in Sierra Leone.
Mr. Mohammed Kabba however said Charles Taylor, Sam Bockarie and Issa Sesay communicated on the satellite phones.
Mr. Kabba also testified that as a Senior Radio Operator he did not hear any instruction from Charles Taylor to the RUF concerning the Freetown invasion in January 1999.
Mr. Kabba also told the court he did not hear any communication about the donation of arms and ammunition by Charles Taylor to the RUF when Freetown was invaded.
Mr. Kabba further told the court communication in the RUF was a very sensitive issue.
He said there was secret frequency to communicate with Charles Taylor but communication with Liberia’s former Special Security Service Director, Benjamin Yeaten was done openly.
