Liberia’s Melvin Tarley has helped qualified his club for the playoffs of the United Soccer League.
Melvin Tarley scored a brace for the Minnesota Thunder in their 4-0 home crushing of fellow USL outfit Charleston Battery last Saturday.
The Thunder dominated the game from the beginning and controlled possession for most of the first half.
Both teams priority was more on controlling the ball in the rainy conditions than on a strong offensive attack.
Nathan Knox opened the score line for the Thunder one minute to halftime from a superb finish.
Thunder Liberian star player Mervin Tarley extended their lead in the 49th minute after collecting the ball from a teammate before chipping it over the Battery goalkeeper to make the score 2-0.
Tension was high at the National Sports Center, as the Thunder battled to keep the momentum up and hold on to their lead.
In the 83rd minute Luchi Gonzalez set Tarley up to slip another shot into the net to make the margin 3-0 before he was substituted 3 minute later.
The goal was the 28 year-old 10thof the season.
