Government and the World Food Program have launched the urban school feeding to target 150,000 children.

According to the UN Food Agency, the targeted children are short of food because of the hike in prices of food.

A release says, another 4,000 rural school children will continue to benefit from the feeding program.

The program aims to improve access to primary education through the distribution of daily-cooked meal.

More than 2,600 government and community primary schools in Liberia would benefit from the feeding program.

Feeding for a Worthy Cause
Written by C. V. Sisuse, on 2008-09-19 23:43:58
I want to extend my thanks and appreciation to the government and the UN food program for undertaken this worthy cause, to established a school feeding program to help the parents who are finding it very difficult to provide a single daily meal for their children. Moreover, the global economy is in a serious downward spiral with major banking institutions closing down on Wall Street, while others are being bought and bailout by other institutions just to resurrect a falling financial market system that is having adverse effect around the global village, and Liberia is of no exception. Indeed, this feeding program will go a long way for thousands of children who leave home every morning without having breakfast and no money for lunch. Also, the feeding program will enable the children to stay focus in the class room while the teachers are carryon instructions; it is very difficult for children to learn and concentrate on empty stomachs. It is my fervent prayer and ardent hope that this program will last for the entire reconstruction period. Bravo!! Madam President
