The Liberia Surgical Outreach Program has expressed regrets over the death of two of its patients in Voinjama, Lofa County.

The patients died during a surgical outreach campaign at the Tellewoyan Hospital in Voinjama.

LISOP in a statement attributed the situation to risks associated with the process of Anesthetic and Surgical procedures.

It said the risks are determined by the ability to metabolize and excrete all of the substances administered to patients during the process of surgery.

LISOP said the process also depends on the underlying disease for which the patient requires surgery.

A statement said before surgery all patients or relatives were informed about the risks.

The LISOP said they were asked to sign a consent form in which they were informed about the risks.
