The Owengrove Concerned Citizens has raised fears over the deplorable condition of the only ferry over the Farmington River.

The Chairman of the group told Star Radio the ferry has outlived its normal lifespan of three years and needs to be changed.

Mr. Henry Bweh said people who cross the Farmington River by way of the ferry have complained on many occasions that it is seriously leaking.

Mr. Bweh said he sees no reason why funds generated from the ferry can not be used to construct a new one.

The Owensgrove Concerned Citizens Chairman called on authorities of the district to immediately remove the dilapidated ferry from the river.

Mr. Bweh said his group would be constrained to eject the ferry until a new one can be constructed.

According to Mr. Bweh, passengers are at serious risk of drowning if nothing is done to arrest the situation.

The Owensgrove crossing point is a major route used by people on both sides of the Farmington River between Margibi and Grand Bassa Counties.
