The Chairman of the Youth Wing of the ruling Unity Party has criticized the plan design of the Via Town Bridge that is to be constructed.
Mr. Hasan Kaizolu said comment by Public Works Minister Lusune Donzo that the bridge will take similar shape as the damaged one was discouraging.
Mr. Kaizolu said the bridge should be modern to meet the population density of the country for the next 20 years.
The Unity Party youth wing chairman is challenging the Public Work Ministry to put on public display the design of the bridge to be constructed.
Mr. Kaizolu wondered why the World Bank would decide to spend fourteen point five U.S. dollars on a bridge that will not be modern.
According to the Mr.Kaizolu, the Ministry of Public Works would do a great disservice to Liberian people if the bridge does not reflect a developing country.
He admitted the UP led government was under serious public pressure to reshape the development agenda of the country.
The Youth Wing Chairman suggested that the bridge be constructed with two connections with one linking Randall Street while the other linking waterside.

Second edition/or remodel is better Written by J. Garpue Lieway, on 2008-09-28 05:11:29 Second edition/or remodel of any thing, ringing from literature to remodeling of infrastructure has always been described as better. Liberians and her development partners are expecting a modern, 21st Century Via Town bridge to justify its cost of construction. Like any other patriotic Liberian, my eyes and ears remain open for the unfolding developments concerning that new Via Town bridge to be constructed. |
Keep up the sound-bite Written by Flomo, on 2008-09-27 18:39:42 The youth need ever than before more sensitive ways to communicate their concerns with leaders in both government and previte sector as a way forward in bring about socioeconomic stability in Liberia. As the young people sound loud and consistant at every level on dying issues that really affect Liberia and prevent the vast majority of population from reaching their goals Liberians will re-think in helping safeguard the interests of the country. And nobody as far as I see some keeys members in government approach national issues can mebolize concerned citizens to stand in way of bad policy makers, beside the young people themselves. So, it is should always be a cause greater than our individual interest if we want to creat a new Liberia for all. |
