The Senate has deferred debate into the reinstatement of suspended Pro Temp Isaac Nyenabo to January 2009.
The decision was announced Thursday following hours of dramatic discussions in the Senate.
Acting Pro Temp Lahai Lassana told reporters the reinstatement of Nyenabo could not be discussed Thursday.
Senator Lassana said the order from Chambers Justice Jamesetta Wolokollie came late and could not form part of the Senate’s agenda.
He said the Senate was in full respect of the mandate from Justice Wolokollie but it was unfortunate it arrived at the time the Senate was closing.
The Senate Acting Pro Temp also confirmed plans to declare the post of Pro Temp vacant but said the leadership would reach the decision.
Our reporter says the move by the Senate not to reinstate its suspended Pro Temp is an apparent blow to the ruling Justice Wolokkollie.
The disputing sides in the Senate’s leadership saga are now due to meet the full bench of the Supreme Court on October 4.
The suspended Senate Pro Temp, Isaac Nyenabo Thursday made a dramatic appearance in the chamber of the Senate.
This was the first time suspended Pro Temp Nyenabo entered the Senate’s Chamber after he took the body to Court on August 20.
Our reporter says suspended Pro Temp Nyenabo marched into the Chamber dressed fully in his white gown with smile on his face.
According to our reporter Senator Nyenabo immediately walked and began shaking the hands of his fellow senators.
At the time of the appearance of Senator Nyenabo Vice President Joseph Boakai was presiding over the Senate.
Suspended Pro Temp Nyenabo however left the Chamber when Acting Pro Temp Lassana assumed the role of Presiding officer after the departure of VP Boakai.
Our reporter says this was a clever move by suspended Pro Temp Nyenabo not to sit under the leadership of Lahai Lassana.
