Report reaching our news desk says President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is expected to intervene in the leadership crisis at the Senate.
Some Senators confirmed the President’s planned intervention while Presidential security guards are seen at the Capitol Building.
Madam Sirleaf is to help mediate the resolution of the crisis at the Senate surrounding the suspension of Isaac Nyenaboe as President Pro-tempore.
The President’s intervention, according to our reporter, is in accordance with Rule 42 of the Senate, giving the President the right to intervene in leadership crisis at the Upper House.
President Sirleaf in early 2007 failed to intervene in similar crisis at the Lower House on grounds that the Legislature was a separate branch of government.
The intervention comes as the senate is meeting to address the ruling by Chambers Justice Jamesetta Wollokollie.
The Chambers Justice ruled last week, mandating the Senate to reinstate Isaac Nyenabo as President Pro-tempore.
