At least 182 ex-child soldier, war affected and destitute children are undergoing a nine-month skills training program in Grand Bassa County.

The program is organized by the Brighter Future Children Rescue Center, a children community-based program.

The program is under the Children Ministry Department of the Liberia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

It is being sponsored by the Emkwelt Mission based in Germany.

The Executive Director of the center said the children were recruited from the community and would be taught basic skills including graphic art, computer and typing.

Mr. Fredo Kinkolenge said the program is designed to empower the children with skills to become productive citizens when they are integrated into the community.

Mr. Kinkolenge also said the initiative is aimed at buttressing government’s Poverty Reduction Strategy Policy.
