Teachers in Liberia will on Monday October 6 join their colleagues the world over to celebrate World Teachers Day.

World Teachers Day was set aside in recognition of the sacrificial services rendered by teachers especially in the impacting of knowledge.

In Monrovia, the day will commence with a parade from the Ministry of education through the principle streets and to Tubman High School.

The President of the Monrovia Consolidated School System told Star Radio the celebration will be climaxed with a scholarship fund drive.

Mr. Nathan Suah said five thousand U.S. dollars is being targeted to support teachers’ education throughout the country.

Mr. Suah named President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf as the Chief Patron of the MCSS fund drive, which will be held at the Tubman High School.

The theme for this year’s World Teachers Day program is” Teachers Matter”.
