A senior employee of the Commerce Ministry has been dismissed for forgery.
An official in the office of the Deputy Commerce Minister for Administration was dismissed for forging the signature of Assistant Minister Adokor Coleman.
Mr. Roland Belleh used the signature of the Assistant Minister on an Import Declaration Permit popularly known as IPD.
Acting Commerce Minister Fredrick Norkeh told Star Radio Mr. Belleh was dismissed after an investigative panel found him guilty.
Minister Norkeh said the ministry may press charges against the dismissed employee if it becomes necessary.
Meanwhile, the Commerce Ministry has placed a temporary ban on the import of a baby milk powder and other dairy products from China.
Acting Commerce Minister Fredrick Norkeh said the action was necessary due to the contamination of three milk products that has led to the death of many children in China.
The milk products are identified as sanlu, suncare and yashili.
The Chinese milk products are contaminated with melamine and create kidney failure, bladder cancer, reproductive damage and acute death when consumed.
Minister Norkeh said BIVAC and all relevant customs and immigration personnel at the various ports of entry have been alerted to monitor the movement of the products.
The commerce official said the three Chinese milk products are not yet on the Liberian market.
