The National Elections Commission has held public consultations with women groups in the country.

The forum focused on three draft electoral bills that were tabled by the House of Representatives until next year.

The co-chairman of NEC said forum was part of efforts to keep stakeholders abreast of unfolding development within the commission.

Cllr. Elizabeth Nelson emphasized that the failure of the House to pass the bills is hindering the work of the NEC.

According to Cllr. Nelson, elections require time and that planning was essential to the process.

Women groups that attended the forum called on the NEC to adjourn the forum pending a thorough review of the bills before they could comment.

The forum was then adjourned for Tuesday and a decision reached to distribute copies of the bills amongst the women groups.
