River
Gee County Superintendent Kaku Sampson says there are attempts by individuals in the county to make his administration unpopular.

Mr. Sampson told Star Radio his critics especially former Senator Nathaniel Williams have fallen short of proving allegations of corruption against him.

Mr. Sampson dismissed malicious claims by former Senator Williams that there are multiple payrolls infested with ghost names in the county.

He however, confirmed the existence of two payrolls which include the active payroll and the arrears payroll in the county.

Mr. Sampson said the arrears payroll contains the names of former employees while the names of current employees are on the active payroll.

He clarified that once government exhausts the payment of arrears to former employees, there would be nothing called arrears payroll.

Mr. Sampson also termed as a blatant lie allegations that he sold road building equipment belonging to the county and pocketed the proceeds.

He said road building equipment in the county are run by Sawyer and Associates and there was no way he could sell them.

Mr. Sampson said he would continue to pursue his development priorities in line with government’s poverty reduction strategy despite criticisms from former Senator Williams and others.
