The Public Affairs Director of the opposition Liberty Party has called on government to equip the National Disaster Relief Commission.

Mr. Jacob Smith believes the commission would effectively respond to national disasters when given the needed support.

Mr. Smith said it was imperative that state resources be allocated wisely to bring relief to the people of Liberia.

He spoke Thursday when the Liberty Party identified with victims of the September 23 flood disaster in Tappita, Nimba County.

The party’s donation to the flood victims included ten bags of rice, eighteen dozens of plastic dishes and two sacs of salt.

The Coordinator of the Liberia National Red Cross Society in Tappita commended the Liberty Party for its show of concern.

Mr. Moses Yeazeah assured the party the items would be used for the intended purpose.
