A Star radio probe has revealed a Junior Public Works official linked to a fuel oil deal at the ministry has returned to the country.

Mr. Varfin Donzo serves as the Special Assistant to the Minister of Public Works.

Mr. Donzo was granted a two-year sabbatical leave to study abroad in April this year after he was linked to the fuel oil deal valued ninety thousand U.S. dollars.

Our investigation revealed that 16-thousand gallons of diesel fuel and 13-thousand gallons of gasoline were delivered to the ministry between September 13, 2006 to May 22, 2007.

According to the investigation, Mr. Donzo and a non-employee of the ministry identified as Mohamed Fofana allegedly received the consignments.

Our sources said the petroleum consignment was never used in the interest of the ministry.

Mr. Varfin Donzo denied ever being part of any fuel oil deal when contacted by Star Radio.

According to him, he learnt about the petroleum theft from a friend while in the United States of America.

Mr. Donzo challenged his accusers to bring forth proofs of his involvement in the petroleum scam.

On the two-year leave granted by the ministry to study abroad, Mr. Donzo said he decided to cut the trip short because of some family reasons.
