Government has signed a US$15.9m contract with the China Chongqing International Construction Corporation.
The contract is intended to rehabilitate the streets of Monrovia covering twenty four point nine kilometers.
Under the contract, the existing surface would be dismantled completely and the new surface would have sidewalk facilities.
Public Works Minister Lusene Donzo said the signing ceremony signifies the beginning of long awaited interventions.
Minister Donzo said the rehabilitation of the streets of Monrovia is under an output and performance-based road contract sponsored by the World Bank.
The Public Works Minister said the project would be completed in twenty four months.
Also, the Equatorial Bio-Fuels has taken over the Butaw Palm Corporation in Sinoe County.
The consultant of EBF said the major task confronting the company before operation is the reconstruction of the road from Butaw Junction to the plantation.
Mr. Allen Yancy said EBF is a British-based company in Liberia to produce oil and expand the palm industry to be able to access the West African market and over to Europe.
He also said EBF has signed a fifty-year agreement with the Liberian government and another twenty-five-year option.
