Basketball champions NPA Deadly Pythons has finished at the sixth position in the Zone III qualifier for the African club championship.
Pythons went down to Phenix Basket of Ivory Coast in the classification match on Sunday.
Phenix whipped the Liberian champions 65to 59 points in what was a fiercely contested encounter.
According to FIBA-Africa website,Phenix showed an early desire to pick the fifth slot of the qualifiers winning the first quarter easily by 15-04 points, which is enough to seal victory for them.
Attemptsby Pythons to rally back in the second and third quarters was not enough to turn the table against the Cocody-based Ivorian side who went on to win the last quarter by 22-21 points.
Sunday’s defeat ended Pythons poor run in the tournament with the Liberian side only recording a single victory.
That victory came after Pythons outclassed Energie Basket of Benin 52-34 points.
The Deadly Pythons are expected back home later this week after failing to qualify for the final of the competition for the fourth time.
